Rarely does anyone have the time and space necessary to reflect on the meanings of the the weeks events, scanning them for significance, and discussing them with another person, who is highly trained in doing so. The benefit of psychoanalytic psychotherapy lies in the time and space it provides for reflection on the meaningful relationships, interactions and domains of the self present in everyday life. This reflection provides a clarity, and a higher overall level of organization of experience, where behavior, emotions, and thoughts can be observed, understood and worked-through.

The core competency-in my opinion- of psychoanalytic therapy, remains its particular ability to access the more subtle domains of the self, revealing not only hidden aspects, but also stimulating dormant potentials necessary for the formation of identity and the pursuit of a true destiny created as a result of personal will and not fate or circumstance.

"Until you make the unconscious conscious it will direct your life and you will call it fate."
